AUCTION : 0510

Lot#: 549

DESCRIPTION: E. N. Welch DAMROSCH, a "double dial" with D. J. Gale patent perpetual calendar mechanism, case of black walnut, 8 day spring, timepiece, C.1885
CONDITION: the lower trim splat has been carefully copied from an original and the case refinished to match. The top dial is re-papered; bottom is original, a large rub spot above center. Seems to run. There is a single vertical dry split in the backboard that also goes through the label. Label is bright and legible and calendar mechanism functions OK {cal bears 1885 patent imprint}. The original "Damrosch" label on rear lacks about a third. When all original, these can fetch $3000, so our estimate has considered the restorations. Ht 41"
ESTIMATE: $1000 - $1250
PRICE SOLD: $1200
